Medical Marijuana Ballot Approved For 2020
Unfortunately, Idahos legislation came to a close this year without passing any bills for cannabis reform. This doesn’t mean it won’t happen in the 2020 election. After years of the legislature turning down petitions, a group of advocates finally filled out a proposal with the Secretary of State to legalize medical cannabis though an initiative next year.
In August, the petition was officially approved for circulation. In order to qualify for the 2020 ballot, supporters must collect at least 55 thousand signatures within the state, before April.
A campaign leader, Bill Esbensen, spoke out to the press after the petition was filed: “Non one should be condemned to suffer just because they live in the wrong state. The initiative will bring Idaho up to speed with other states such as Arkansas, West Virginia, and Oklahoma, allowing patients to get the medication they need in order to treat their conditions, from a non-toxic herb”
The Current Law in Idaho
